The Conduit by Lily Hunger is a YA high-fantasy novel following Amarys, the illegitimate daughter to a Lord of the kingdom and proud sister to Tristan Vervaine, who was prophesized to develop the abilities of a Conduit to defeat a rogue who has terrorized the kingdom for decades. However, when it is Amarys that the Goddess blesses with abilities, not Tristan, everything becomes much more complicated and dangerous.

What’s on your nightstand right now?

Children of Blood and Bone by Tomi Adeyemi and Legends & Lattes by Travis Baldree

Do you have any eccentric habits/strategies to get you started writing? What are they?

I actually like to write at my job. I worked at the front desk of a gym while doing my MFA, and it was easy to just open up a Word document and start writing during the slow times.

Your advice to an incoming MFA student?

Write a lot, take notes when inspiration hits, and don’t be too discouraged by rejections. Rejections make the eventual acceptances more satisfying.
